Eye Tests in Darwin City

Comprehensive eye care,

personalised to you

Advanced scans for every new patient

Every new patient at Darwin Eyecare receives a DNEye scan and an Optos retinal scan as part of their comprehensive eye examination.

These scans help us build a detailed baseline of your eyes from your very first visit. This means we can better understand your vision, assess your eye health and compare future results over time.

At Darwin Eyecare, an eye test is not just about reading letters on a chart.

Your eyes are part of how you work, learn, drive, read, relax, connect with people and experience the world around you. That is why our comprehensive eye examinations are designed to understand more than your prescription. We take the time to understand why you have come to see us, what has changed, what is uncomfortable, and what matters most to you.

Whether you have noticed a change in vision, sore or tired eyes, headaches, trouble with screens, difficulty reading, contact lens discomfort, or you simply want a thorough check of your eye health, our goal is to make your world clearer and more comfortable, now and into the future.

DNEye scan: understanding the optics of your eyes

The DNEye scan gives our optometrists a clearer understanding of the optical quality of your eyes.

It helps us assess how light passes through the eye and how clearly your eyes are focusing. This can provide useful information when prescribing glasses, discussing lens options and understanding why your vision may not feel as clear or comfortable as expected.

For some patients, this information can help us personalise lens recommendations, particularly when visual demands are high, symptoms are complex, or standard prescriptions do not fully explain what someone is experiencing.

Optos retinal scan: a wider view of your eye health

The Optos retinal scan provides one of the most comprehensive imaging views available of the back of the eye.

This scan allows us to capture a detailed image of the retina, creating a baseline record that can be compared with future images. By comparing retinal images over time, we are better able to detect change and monitor your eye health carefully.

Retinal imaging may assist in the assessment and monitoring of eye health concerns such as changes to the retina, optic nerve, blood vessels and other structures at the back of the eye.

A comprehensive exam that starts with you

Technology is important, but it is only one part of good eye care.

At Darwin Eyecare, your comprehensive eye examination is centred around you. We do not want to simply put you through tests or go through the motions. We want to understand what has brought you in, what your eyes need, and how we can help.

Your visit may include assessment of:

  • Your vision and glasses prescription
  • Eye focusing and eye teaming
  • Eye pressure
  • Retinal and optic nerve health
  • Dry eye and ocular surface comfort
  • Contact lens suitability or comfort
  • Digital screen and near vision demands
  • Family history and risk factors
  • Children’s vision and learning-related concerns, where relevant

The exact testing we perform depends on your symptoms, age, history, risk factors and reason for attending.
